Your Essential Guide: What to Ask & Know Before Your Aesthetic Appointment

Let’s be real, meeting a new provider can be awkward. What do you ask? What do you look out for? You want to walk out of there feeling like they just get you —- even if you’re not totally sure what you want or need. This checklist will help you make the most of your appointment.

1. Figure out what your goals are

First things first, think about what’s been bugging you or what you’d love to enhance. Is it the dark under eye bags that’s giving “didn’t sleep well” vibes? Keep in mind the areas you absolutely don’t want to necessarily change! You’d be surprised how everything is related.

Ask Yourself:

What features do you love about yourself?

Are there any areas you feel have changed over the years?

Am I worried about specific areas, like the under-eyes or do I have any skin concerns I want to discuss?

Ask Your Provider:

What’s the best way to address [insert your concern]?

How can we create a plan to meet my goals without overdoing it?

2. Full-Face Consultation = Game Changer

A good provider doesn’t just focus on one little area—they look at the whole picture to make sure everything is balanced. Aging happens everywhere, so it’s important to keep it cohesive.

Ask Your Provider:

Can we do a full-face consultation? (this should be a non - negotiable from the provider's end, if they don’t do a full face consult… this potentially could be a red flag!)

How do you figure out what treatments are right for me?

If I’m only starting with one area, how will that affect the rest of my face?

3. Be Open About Common Concerns

You’re not alone if you’re wondering about under-eye discoloration feeling like things are just falling, or dull skin. Most people come in with these concerns, so don’t be shy about bringing them up.

Ask your Provider:

What can help me look less tired or more lifted?

What’s good for dark circles or crepey skin?

Are there options for improving my skin’s texture, tone, or glow?

4. Find Out About Their “Style” and Aesthetic

Not every provider’s vibe is going to match yours, and that’s okay! Hot tip: if the injector looks “weird & unnatural” to you, chances are you are heading down that road.

Ask Your Provider:

What’s your approach to keeping things natural-looking?

Can you show me examples of your work?

How do you customize treatments for each patient?

5. Get the Details on the Plan

You’ll want to know the how, what, and when of any treatments they recommend. It’s all about setting realistic expectations.

Ask Your Provider:

What’s the timeline of my treatment plan look like?

How long does it take to see results, and is there downtime?

How long will the results last?

Are there follow-ups or maintenance treatments I’ll need?

6. Trust Your Gut

At the end of the day, it’s about how you feel. If the provider listens to you, takes the time to explain things, and makes you feel comfortable, you’re in good hands. And if something didn’t sit right with you during the consultation, it’s a sign to keep looking.

Ask Yourself:

Did they really listen to what I’m looking for?

Did they explain everything in a way that made sense?

Do I feel like I can trust them with my face (because, hello, that’s important)?

Use this checklist to go into your appointment feeling prepared and confident. A great provider will guide you through every step to help you look and feel your best. Cheers to your self care journey, you deserve it!
