Treatment Guide
-
It is best to plan your treatment at least 1 month prior to any big event.
Stop taking blood thinners, including medications such as Aspirin, Aleve, Ibuprofen, Motrin, etc., 3-5 days before your treatment. Please let us know if you are on chronic blood thinners like Coumadin or Lovenox.
Stop herbal medications or herbal teas starting 3-5 days weeks before your treatment. Supplements and herbal medicines may include fish oils, GREEN TEA, and ginseng.
Stop taking high doses of Vitamin E or any other high amount of vitamin 2 weeks before your treatment. A multivitamin may be continued.
Drinking excessive alcohol within 2 days of treatment or using blood thinners such as Advil and Aspirin can increase your risk of bruising.
-
The face may feel tight and sore immediately after treatment and will slowly subside within 1-2 weeks. The use of ice packs for 15-20 minutes intermittently for a few days will help aid in swelling and discomfort.
-
Although you can see immediate results, it can take about 2-3 weeks for full results of the threads to settle. Please be patient. Allow the skin to heal before addressing any unevenness or asymmetry.
-
The effects of threads typically last up to a year. The duration of effect depends on the treatment area, the severity of laxity, and threads used.

Patient should avoid washing hair and taking a shower for the next 24 hours after the procedure. When washing face after 24 hours, gently wash the area. Patient should avoid drinking or smoking for 1-2 weeks to prevent possible infection. Smoking and drinking can slow down the healing process. Patient should avoid aggressive or prolonged chewing, wide yawns, and big smiles for up to 1 month. Patient should avoid lying down either in a prone or side position within 4 hours after the procedure to decrease the possibility of the movements of threads. It is recommended that the patient sleeps in a supine position for the next 3-5 days to prevent the movement of threads. Patients should avoid headstands, yoga, strenuous workouts, and exaggerated facial expressions for about 2-3 weeks (avoid dental treatments during this time if possible). The face may be bound with bandages for 1-2 days after the procedure to help with swelling and stability if needed. Avoid deep facial massages for the next month, but laser or skin treatments may be done after one month from the procedure.
-
Swelling and bruising is expected; however not everyone experiences the same type of downtime. Some patients don’t experience any downtime, while others may have prolonged swelling or bruising for a couple weeks. Any tiny bumps or needle marks go away within a few days as it settles. Bruises or residual marks may be covered with makeup, but please wait for 24 hours and use a gentle touch to avoid rubbing the treated area. If swelling is severe and/or you are experiencing prolonged pain, please contact us immediately.

After initial treatment, a follow-up appointment will be scheduled 3-4 weeks post-treatment.
